About this place
Crisp, springy gizzards and liver with a smooth, creamy texture are among the pleasures of Yakitori Major’s omakase course, which pairs its skewers with appetisers and other small dishes. One example included an appetiser, chicken tenderloin wrapped in seaweed with karasumi, chicken thigh, gizzards and liver, followed by thick fried tofu, a game burger and chicken soup.
One diner recalled the tenderloin and karasumi isobe-yaki—seaweed-wrapped and grilled—as a particular highlight, with the tenderloin cooked until moist and the karasumi’s savoury flavour complemented by shiso. The skewers offer different textures: gizzards are light and crisp, while the liver is creamy rather than dry. Some diners singled out the chicken wings; others praised the flavour of the chicken thigh, so there is more than one way to enjoy the skewers.
Between skewers, the thick fried tofu has also been noted for the contrast between its exterior and centre. One course included a game burger made with Ezo deer. For the final dish, diners have chosen egg-over-rice, with some enjoying the choice of egg or noting a version served with chicken soboro.
The drinks list includes wine and shochu, and one reviewer enjoyed the sansho pepper sour. The course suits a leisurely dinner, and reservations are recommended for the evening.
